MAPtools Menu (List of Links to pages that present descriptions and CODE and data for 'MAPtools' 'tkGooie' scripts) Outline Maps: tkReadOutlineFile_drawOutlineOnCanvas reads an outline-data-file, such as longitude-latitude points in decimal degrees, and plots the outline(s) on a Tk canvas. tkReadWriteOutlineFile_WriteFilteredFile reads a high-resolution outline-data-file and makes lower-resolution outline-data-files from the hi-res file. tkMakeOutlineFile_byPickPointsOnImage reads an image file (GIF or PNG), allows for picking 'loop's of points using the image as a guide, then writes the x,y data to an 'outline-data' file. Tile Maps: tkFetchOSMtiles_forOneLatLon_ tilesAtVariousZoomLevels fetches OSM map tiles from an OSM server, for a given latitude-longitude and for several OSM 'zoom-levels'. (OSM = Open Street Map) OSM 'zoom-levels' are explained at this OSM 'slippy tiles' page. tkMakePNGmapFromOSMtiles_aroundLatLon_ OneZoomLevel_ NxMtiles fetches rows and columns of OSM map tiles from an OSM server, for a given latitude-longitude and a given OSM zoom-level and for specified numbers of tiles around a 'central' tile. (NxM indicates that N columns and M rows of OSM tiles are joined into one map, in a PNG image file.) The Tk script files (and other auxiliary files, if any) are in text files that can be down-loaded to your computer and implemented.
